cometsmom Posted June 13, 2004 #26 Share Posted June 13, 2004 We have only cruised once before and did a balcony guarantee because my husband is somewhat claustrophic - it was wonderful! Our friends did an inside 4A and I must say, it was like any normal hotel room - they were fine with it! For the money difference, as long as you know that you can enjoy the sunshine and ocean from other decks (where you will be most of the time), it's probably just as well to book an inside (but I would definitely do the guarantee, just for the excitement of a possible upgrade)! jima53 Posted June 13, 2004 #27 Share Posted June 13, 2004 Is that really true, the inside cabin is the same size as the view cabins and the balconys, that's quite a blanket statement, but most on here are seasoned cruisers so it probably is. MortgageChick Posted June 14, 2004 #28 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Jim I have been on 3 carnival ships. On the Destiny we had a 4a on the Paradise a 6a and on the Legend an 8C. The cabins were all the same size about 185-190 sq feet. I don't think that this is the same for other cruise lines.
dmfriedman Posted June 14, 2004 #29 Share Posted June 14, 2004 On Carnival, all staterooms from 1A through 8I are 185 square feet (with a few minor exceptions for strangely-shaped rooms that get squeezed in here and there). Within category 8, there are a few that have larger balconies than others -- 8C, 8E, 8G and 8I have balconies that are 50% larger than the other cat 8's. 9A rooms are about 250 square feet with roughly double balconies. 11 suites are 275 square feet with anywhere from double to quad balconies. 12 Suites are 370 square feet with pretty darn large balconies. <center><font size="-1"><hr>Also known as Dave, who is Openly Addicted to Cruising! dbauknight Posted June 14, 2004 #30 Share Posted June 14, 2004 The wife and I have had all three, most have been inside. Our last on The Legend was a Balcony and we loved it. However, our next two are inside. (Fantasy and Glory) We may upgrade to another balcony for the Glory 7 day, but why waist the money on a short Fantasy 3 day? We find that we spend more time in the room with the balcony, and more time out and about with the inside. There is PLENTY to do, even the days at sea. Our first cruise, we never spent any time inside the cabin. It wasn't until our last, with the balcony that we spent more time in the cabin. (i.e. breakfast every morning out on the balcony) It was also nice when we came into and out of ports. rocktheboat Posted June 14, 2004 #31 Share Posted June 14, 2004 I hate that closed in feeling I get in a inside cabin. Won't book less than an outside cabin.
