Hot Springs near Auckland

We will be taking a Celebrity cruise to New Zealand in March. Then we are spending 10 days in Australia & then back to NZ in early April. We have 5 days in Auckland prior to a South pacific cruise. Are there any hot springs that are good for a day trip from Auckland or even an overnight that we could do via public transport? Many thanks!

Yes, I did but I was hoping for natural hot springs. Great Barrier island sound interesting but it's all off grid. I was hoping for a resort type of stay, or a day trip.

If you just want a lovely outing with hot springs included, We did a trip to the Hot Water Beach on the Coromandel Peninsula. It would be a long day if you return to Auckland or you can stay somewhere overnight.
