Luggage at Pier

Help - We will be driving to the ship terminal this year for our cruise and would like to know how others have handled their luggage.

 

Can you drop your luggage with someone in your party, then go park the car or what's the best way to do it when you are parking at the cruise ship terminal?

You didn't mention which city and which terminal but that is exactly what we do when sailing out of San Pedro. My DH and I turn our checked luggage over to a dock worker, then I watch the carry-ons until he returns. Once parked in the lot, there is a shuttle to transport the driver back to the terminal.

For those of you who have sailed out of NYC - can the same protocol be followed?
