Kimberley cruise advice

Hi All

I'm doing the Jacques Cartier cruise in the Kimberley next year (Darwin to Broome) and was wondering whether there will be any opportunities to do snorkelling and whether to take my own gear.

Any advice would be much appreciated from any who have cruised this region.

Thanks very much.

Cheers

Jennifer

I would say not -- as far as the guides were concerned we were constantly at risk of meeting crocodiles, so every entry into water was brief.

We were allowed one knee-deep swim in one corner of Silica Beach. The water wasn't completely clear and the guides were scanning for crocodile activity, so it wasn't exactly relaxing.

Thanks @AussieBoyTX and @Becky2010 for the info. It is as I suspected. I'll leave the snorkel gear at home and stick with the pool.

Cheers

Jennifer

I was just looking at the Ponant Kimberly cruises in July (Darwin to Broome) and they do stop at Ashmore reef! "

  • In Ashmore Reef, the opportunity to enjoy a zodiac cruise to view the abundant birdlife and marine life as well as swimming and snorkelling in the clear tropical waters."
