Playa Porto Mari beach

Seaver, we visited Playa Porto Mari last year and it was a very nice beach, sandy, not rocky. Decent snorkeling. Admission includes one drink; beach chairs are, I believe, $3. Here's the website:http://www.playaportomari.com/

Have a great time!

We were in Curacoa last week and had planned to go to Playa Porto Mari, however the taxi was $40 each way. A little steep for us just to go to the beach.

We talked to the information desk (center of the dock - and not affialted with any tours) and she suggested KonTiki Beach as did the shore excursion people from the cruise line.

We ended up taking a 1.5 hour island tour for $15 each and they dropped us off at KonTiki Beach. (the tours are sold right at the end of the pier). What a beautiful beach!! One of the best we went to our whole trip. $3 admission, restaurant, bar, rental chairs, massage hut. The water was crystal blue, white sand beach, snorkeling/diving just outside of reef. Taxi back was $4 per person. Taxi's were readily available when we departed, but there is a hotel about 2 blocks away you could always pick one up at.

We had the taxi drop us at the floating marketing downtown for some shopping and strolled from there back to the ship.

Happy travels!

  • 3 weeks later...

We are just off the 3/27 sailing on Empress of the Seas.

One of our BEST experiences was our trip to Porto Mari.

We rented a car ( 4 of us) for $78.00 at Avis. Ask for directions to the beach. No problem-driving is on the right.

The beach is fantastic-incredible view, good beach snorkeling even for non-swimmers! Beach cost=$2.00 per person (includes a soft drink) and $3.00 for a chair. There is a restaurant, bar and the food is good!! If you like crab salad-it is very good.

Laid back area but worth the trip. Just be sure of how to get there as you need to travel down some unpaved roads. The trip is worth it!!!! :D
