Ferry to Cruz Bay OR ships excursion?

In St. Thomas, Would you taxi to Red Hook then ferry to Cruz Bay, then taxi to your beach of preference, stay as long as you like OR do the ships excursion to Truck Bay, $49. each, about 5 hr total, 1 and 1/2 hr at Trunk Bay.

How much is the taxi from the pier to Red Hook? I saw the ferry is $5. pp each way.

When you go to St Thomas everyone has to go thru immigration on the ship before they will let anyone off. We wanted to go to St. John, which I think is Cruz Bay so we booked something that got us off early at St. John. I think it might have been a ferry ride. We had to purchase the return ferry during certain hours (I think by lunch). We had to meet at a VERY early hour but again by doing that we gained at least 2 hrs in St. John You then go thru immigration on the island, hop a cab and go to the beach which was open that early. This sells out fast.

thanks for the reply...you just got ferry tickets? no other excursion? went on your own after that on St. John?

yes as long as we bought the ferry ticket from them ahead of time we got off with all the people that bought excursions. we were on the norway 2 years ago and did it. we had a great taxi driver also

I didn't realize you could buy tickets for the ferry to Cruz Bay onboard. Is this true for all NCL ships?

I know that is what we did on the Norway. I would sure think so

I did the ships excursion once. After all the traveling and nonsense we had a little over 1 hour at Trunk Bay. I'd go on my own next time.

 

How to get to Trunk Bay from Charlotte Amalie:

 

Take taxi to Red Hook for ferry to St.John $8.00 pp

Total = $24.00 – 17 minutes

 

Take ferry from Red Hoook to Cruz Bay $3.00pp

Total $9.00 **** 15 – 20 minutes

 

From Cruz Bay take taxi to Trunk Bay $3.00 pp

Total = $9.00 – 12 minutes

Admission to Trunk Bay is $4.00 per adult 17 and up

 

**** ferries leave Red Hook at 6:30am, 7:30am, and then hourly starting at 8:00am running until midnight

 

ferries leave Cruz Bay hourly starting at 6:00am until 11pm

And if you can't afford a taxi from Charlotte Amalie to Red Hook like we couldn't, you can jump on one of the local buses that circle the island for $1/person.
