For those who have used the service or are familiar with current operations:  How does wheelchair assisted boarding work at the Port of San Diego?  Thanks for any info.

You or your TA will want to let HAL know in advance that you want assistance. Then a wheelchair logo will print on your boarding pass. When you get to the port and they see the logo, you will be escorted to a sitting area. Then, first in - first out, you will be taken thru security and wait in another area for someone to take you on board.

I used wheelchair assisted boarding last year, after knee surgery.  I was thankful I had requested it, as it is a big warehouse sort of setup and long lines.  You can only use the port wheelchairs, and there was not many.  They take you to the ship and then have to wait to get assistance and a Holland wheelchair.  It took quite a long time to board, but maybe standing in line would have taken quite some time too?
