I am considering taking a cruise on the Glory in May. I have cruised Carnival several times before but not this cruise.....can anyone give me comments on taking the cruise. I will be taking someone who has never crusied before (but will soon be hooked). Thinking of a balcony; I have not been able to go back to an outside cabin! Or if anyone can suggest another cruise we might want to consider that would be great.......Thanks for all your help, as always

I would like some to, we are going in 25 days and counting. We are doing the Eastern cruise. We are getting for the first time a balcony, this is our 6th cruise. We started out on the NCL, inside cabin, then floor to ceiling window, then just a window, not a porthole. This time, a balcony. I am so excited, I will put my review on the website when I get back. I think it is hard to get information on certain ships on here, I will be happy to answer any questions that you might have. 25 days and counting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We took our first cruise on the Glory almost 2 years ago. Everyone had a BLAST! Definitely get a balcony...I don't think I would cruise without one.

Getting the fever as our next cruise is 20 days away.

April 10th Sensation

Anyone know anything about it besides it being refurbed post-FEMA?

Decklounger: Can I ask what cabin you had and what did you do on St Martin? I am not much of a shopper more of a beach/snorkel kind of person....but anything you could tell me would be great. Also anything else you could tell me about the ship, I would also appreciate. THANKS

Luvdale: once you have had a balcony it is hard to ever go back to a regular window....they should be ashamed of themselves getting us hooked on balconies :) I am jealous you are going so soon, what cabin did you get?

We were in room 6446... upper aft. It was a good location between promenade and lido, but I think aft rocks a little bit more than others. We had a couple days of rougher seas, but nothing too bad. The room was over the ebony lounge (jazz club), which definitely would be a MAJOR problem for anyone trying to sleep before midnight. Didn't really bother us though.

On St Maarten, we spent most of the day at the beach. We're not really shoppers either, but strolled through downtown on our way back to the ship. We took a cab to Orient Beach ($6pp, each way). The beach is beautiful!! White sand and crystal blue water. If you're really offended by nudity, don't go there though. You may see some topless chicks... it's kind of a European island. You can take a jet ski from the beach for $15pp to a small island/reef off the beach for snorkeling (that includes snorkel rental). It's a great deal! Then, head to the downtown area for a few beers ($1 each!!), t-shirts, people watching or whatever. It's $3 cba back to the ship from there, but it's an easy 10-15min walk.

Lounger: Thanks, I think I will put that beach on our list, the only thing that is offensive about a nude beach is probably me :) Sounds like it had a bit of everything there. What about beverages/snacks at teh beach did you purchase or bring along?

Was your room a balcony or an outside cabin? Good to know about the jazz club, again thanks for responding. I am now getting excited

There were a few food stands at the beach for drinks and food, but we didn't eat there. Cokes/beers were around $3-4 I think. It'd be a good idea to take some snacks with you, unless you want to eat there. We're kind of funny about 'native' food stands. But you'll definitely be hungry spending the day there. There's Taco Bell, Burger King, KFC and McDs downtown btw, if you need to get something before heading back to the ship. By the way, if you like burgers and dogs, the lido deck grill is very good :D

You havent said if you are going Eastern or Western Carribean. I did the Western itinerary last week. Had cabin 8448 and I wouldn't dream of anywhere else on the ship. Directly below the aft Lido Bar which is seldomly frequented, so I could run right upstairs and get a drink quickly. Also nice and quiet, balcony is about 25 feet that wraps around. Logic says it would rock the most back there (and it was my honeymoon so DW & I didnt know the difference) but it wasnt noticeable, but we did have calm seas almost the whole time.

You'll get spoiled by this balcony. You really will.

Deck 5 is the entertainment deck, and especially if you have an aft cabin on 6 you will likely hear the noise. I spoke to people in different cabins that said they couldn't get to sleep until everything shut down at 2 am.

Just back from the Glory 3/11 Cruise. We had a wonderful time. No complaints on the ship at all. Not too much smoke in the casino, our waitstaff in the dining room were great, drink staff was very friendly.

Of course our bar bill was larger then I would have liked but hey, we were with friends on vacation.

We had cabin number 9280 on the Lido deck and it was very quiet! I would walk out and get coffee for my balcony every morning. It was really a great location.

I am not really sure what to take Western/Eastern I am flexible on my dates so that was part of the decision that I needed to make.

Diane/Lazy: thanks for the info on the cabins, I think that sounds like the perfect thing for us; I like the idea of going upstairs and getting a drink anytime......How I do love a balcony :)

Anything else you guys could tell would be really appreciated. Lazy what ports did you vist and which did you like>

I know, I don't think I will ever be able to go back to the window or a inside cabin ever again. We are all so spoiled. We are on the upper deck, my room is 6386, do you know anything about it??? I think we will be over the casino, but, that will now bother me, I HOPE!!! On the NCL cruise, we had a window, right beside the casino, the first night drove me nuts, but after that I paid no attention to it!!! I even took my ear plugs just in case but I didn't need them.

I have been to St Maarten before and the shopping is better there. My sister and I did the island tour, which was kinda nice going to the French and Dutch side. Two countries on one island. Strange I would like to go back to St John when we are in St Thomas, I don't know if I can talk my nephew into going with me. He has only been on the western cruise and this is his first on the Eastern. Some things are cheaper on St Maarten. I really am so excited.

Today I went to the website and it had my name, the date, the ship, I GOT SO EXCITED I COULD NOT STAND IT!!!!!!!! Have you been to Atlantis? We have all been to Nassau several times and every time I say I wish I had of done Atlantis, I may never get back, so I really am thinking about. If you have any additional information, I would greatly appreciate it so much!!

SORRY SO LONG!!!!

Luv: Never too long, I try to stay away from the crowded places (Atlantis) I usually go to the other side of the Island and hit the beach :) Although a co-worker just came back abotu a month ago and said they loved Atlantis and they were thinking of spending a few extra days on the Island because of it.

Don't really know much about your cabin but I have never had a bad cabin and I have cruised over 15 times; I try to avoid being near the elevators and on the same floor as the entertainment but other than that I don't think that you can have a bad cabin, especially when you have a balcony. You will enjoy your trip and I expect to hear abck from you when you return :)

Oh and do the trip to St John, it is a beautiful place and you won't regret going over......

We just came back from cruising the Glory, and it was fantastic! We had the most fun in the karaoke club called Bar Blue, and the shows were great. If you are looking for snorkelling, we went on the Lord Sheffield tall ship adventure in St. Martin. It was fantastic! All you can drink, barbecued ribs and chicken, cheese and fruit trays and the crew is great! Their website is http://www.lordsheffield.com Have fun!

I really loved St John, my sister and I did it 3 years ago and it is a beautiful untouched island. I think my nephew will enjoy it, and we can meet up with the others later. I am traveling with my nephew and other family members, I am single. My sister was supposed to go, but her finances kept her from going. I asked my nephew if he would want to go with me. I will have to think more about Atlantis. We have been to Nassau 3 times and every time I go, I always say I want to see Atlantis. I know we will not be there on Nassau too long. I have done the shopping thing in Nassau, I have fair skin and it seems like every cruise I have to be so CAREFUL in the sun. I get sun poisoning every single time. I REALLY HATE HAVING TO BE SO CAREFUL IN THE SUN ON A CRUISE BECAUSE I LOVE BEING OUT IN IT. I wear the strongest sunblock I can get, but I still get sun poisoning and I look horrible when I get back. The room we had on the Majesty was right beside the casino and the first night, it was AWFUL!!! I thought why in the world did our TA get us this room, but I did not pay any attention to it after the first night. I slept like a baby the rest of the week. If the ship rocks just a little that is a great way to be rocked to sleep. I will put my review on the website when I get back. I have wanted to read more about the GLory but the reviews are limited. I will answer any questions that anyone has.

24 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Key West was a six hour stop. Wonderful place but if you have to dock at the military base be prepared to be disappointed. Trolleys couldnt get us off the boat quick enough. Once we made it to the trolley and into town we had about two hours before we had to start heading back to get in line again.

Had a great time in Belize. We were told repeatedly that there isn't a whole lot to do in Belize unless you book something. We had previously book cave tubing and ziplining and it was great. I hear the ruins there are fantastic, and Belize hosts a large coral reef (second in size only to the Great Barrier in Oz).

Last stop was Costa Maya which as been put in as a substitute for Cozumel due to hurricane damage. We were given surveys about our time there, so I'm thinking it's going to grow quite a bit there in the next 5-10 years. Enjoy Mahahual while it still has it's fishing village charm. Its the next town from the port and anyone who researches will tell you that is the place to go to. Lots of excursions to choose from; I did a ruins tour with a gentleman who grew up on the actual site. Fantastic.

The lack of time in Key West was the only disappointment.

April 29 will be our third time on the Glory. We booked two Eastern cruises. The third that was to be western was changed due to a hurricane, that would be Mean Jeanne! We changed to eastern and only hit two ports instead of the four western.

It is true that once you book a balcony cabin you are hooked!

On St. Maarten our favorite spot is Orient Beach! There is not a whole lot of nudity there....unless you walk down to Club Orient...a nude resort. It's actually pretty funny! I seen this one older guy sitting in his lounge chair...all he was wearing was a hat and a smile!!!!!!

The beach there is beautiful. The thing I love is they have waiters on the beach that will run a tab for you! I usually get lunch here in front of the Bikini Beach area. I get ribs, corn on the cob, rolls, salad , and fries! And it is served right at my beachchair! Frederick, our waiter, was pretty cool and always right there when we needed him! Nothin like sitting in the sun, looking at a beautiful beach, and having your drinks and food delivered to you!!!!! Have a great cruise!

Buckeye: thanks fro the info, I am getting excited and have emailed my TA for some pricing....the intersting thing is that I was also emailing with PVP thru carnival and he says he can not give me prices over the email because pricing is changing constantly......I prefer email because I am in the offie and with patients so needless to say I was put back a bit by that!

Lazy: thanks for the info on the ports, I have been to Key West as well and not one of my favs by any means but good place to walk off some of the food and hit a Margarita....

Keep the info coming its nice to hear things :)
