Group cruise question

I am booked on a CC group cruise for next year and have found the cruise for a cheaper price with another online TA. My question is who pays the shipboard credit? Is it CC or is it the TA or cruiseline? I am wondering so that when I call and tell them I found it for like $80 a person cheaper they don't throw the shipboard credit at me and me be completely wrong. TIA

If the lower price that you are looking at includes all port charges and taxes, you should contact the t/a and they should be able to match the lower price for the whole group. They will need to see the lower quote in writing and it must show that all charges are included.

The shipboard credit is an amenity that is paid by the cruiseline for booking as part of the group. I am not entirely sure how that affects the group's pricing, but if you found a lower price you should definitely contact the t/a and bring it to their attention.

Please e-mail me and let me know how you make out.

The cruise critic group cruise has amenities that you wont get from a travel agent--even the online ones. for 80 bucks savings what are you givng up in the way of your amenities by booking with the CC group?
What you are seeing is probaly a sale just on that site alone. Are you seeing the price on the CArnival site too? If so then I would let the group leader know the price came down and see what that leader can get for the group.

Thanks Serene this makes alot of sense. I will keep an eye on the Carnival site and see if there prices go down. I have contacted the TA to see what they say about it but explained that I didn't want to lose any of the amenities that we are getting right now. I am sure now that you have explained it this way that we have a much better deal with the group rate than if I switched. Thanks!

To the OP, the $80.00 onboard credit was one of the amenities that your TA picked for your group. The pricing you found, that was cheaper, may not have provided the onboard credit, but a discounted price (as an amenity). Make sure you're comparing apples to apples.

We're booked on a group cruise in November. I found the price "cheaper" on a couple of websites and threw a fit! Found out that lots of "free stuff" was included with the price of our group cruise, so the price was pretty close. Still had fun dickering with the TA!!!

Can't wait to sail on the Conquest 11/14
