Second seating Posted January 28 #1 Share Posted January 28 We are on this cruise in April, I wonder if we can walk to the train stations in Arles and Lyon to where the ship docks? Thank you, Second seating
Rare jpalbny Posted January 28 #2 Share Posted January 28 My information from doing this trip in 2015 may be dated, but it was a simple walk from Lyon Perrache station to the ship. It was at le Quai Claude Bernard. I posted a map of our walking route in my trip report: Note: there are two TGV stations in Lyon. Our train's first stop in Lyon was Part-Dieu. We stayed on the train until the next stop at Perrache so that we had an easier walk. You'd have to verify where the ship docks now though because they have done a lot of work on the peninsula between the Rhone and Saone since then, I think. Things may have changed. Re: disembarkation - We didn't end in Arles - we ended in Avignon. If your ship does sail all the way to Arles, it may dock at Qual Lamartine, which appears to be very close to the train station. We saw river boats docked there when we visited Arles. But our ship didn't sail further south than Tarascon, and we disembarked the cruise in Avignon, not Arles. Second seating Posted January 28 Author #3 Share Posted January 28 JP, Thank you I will contact Uniworld, the cruise start in Arles and we will be coming in from Marseille. The tricky part is getting back to Marseille to catch a train to Cannes for my 5 night cooking class. I also will start looking at ships locations when they start cruising in April. fred111 Posted February 2 #5 Share Posted February 2 Uniworld will take you to the Marseille Airport. You can take a taxi from there to the train station.
