bungee chords

They're pretty stretch so probably a 1 footer would be fine. Another tips is to tie a hand towel around the knob so it doesn't bang on the partition if it's windy.

We have found that using the rubber door stopper(usually left in the room for the room service and room steward ) IN THE DOOR CRACK WORKS GREAT..

*shakes head*.....Here we go again. Everyone turn the AC to "arctic chill" and then keep the balcony doors open with bungie cords. That way we can have a nice fire.

We did the bungie cord on Alaska trip. Was a GREAT idea for many reasons. The weather was great most of the time, so we had fresh air. When things were happening on and off, it was much easier to just walk outside and not deal with the door (they seem to weigh a few hundred pounds). Kept it from slamming. And, with many of the naturalist announcements not made in the stateroom, we could hear what was going on if sitting in the cabin.

By the way, opt for a LONGER or multiple cords.

Last summer, on our first cruise, the previous occupants of our cabin left a bungee cord and so we tried it out, afer hearing so much about it on these boards. We found that it created a "vortex" if someone (one of our boys) opened the cabin door! It also seemed that everything was so incredibly covered with salt(on the balcony) that it would get in the room if we left the door open! We opted not to use it after all - how have others made out??

We had a problem with the cross winds on the Conquest this past January. It was really rough the last night as we came into the Mississippi. If somebody opened the balcony door and the cabin door at the same time, it created a powerful vacuum and sucked a lot of stuff out into the hall way, including my husband who tried to open the door for the room service attendent only to find himself suddenly in the hallway with the door shut behind him!

That also happened to us on our last cruise but we were in the western caribbean with very nice weather. We had a cabin on the aft at the very end of the hallway. Yikes, if we had the balcony door opened AND opened the cabin door... it created a vortex that coulda sucked us off the ship. What a mess..all those papers that were on the desk..lol

The Fall cruises we've been on it's been too warm to sleep with the door open but this past January on the Conquest we were able to. We had some pretty rough seas one night and I woke up and told hubby to turn the waves down, they were too loud and keeping me awake! LOL

If your bungee is striking a chord, its way too tight.

We find it too hot to keep the door open at night. But then we live in the heat year round so we might not feel it the same as folks from the colder climes.

We were opening the door at night at times because the AC was so cold in the room . With the door open it kept a more even temp.We were having a hard time regulating the temp. in the room..
