Concierge Service on EOS - what is a portable ship phone?

We are leaving on Sunday March 26 on the EOS, and are booked in a GS. One of the concierge amenities is listed as the "use of a portable ship phone". What is this? Is this a phone I can call HOME on? (I know that is totally wishful thinking, and that nothing will save me the $7.95 per minute to call my kids...)

 

But I still am wondering what this phone is! :confused:

While I've never used that ammenity, I'm guessing it's simply a walkie talkie for communicating with some else on the ship. While the concierge does have the ability to place ship to shore calls, I have never seen them offered free of charge.

I asked about the phones and was told they are walkie talkie like phones that you can rent for the week. They work like phones and do not work off the ship.

 

Curious where you got a list of amenities that goes with concierge suites. We are in the Royal suite. When we booked it last year we were told that you got 4 bottles of liquor, champagne, priority embark and debark and have since learned they are all gone. I'm happy just getting the extra space but would love to know if any other perks are attached.
