Jacko Posted March 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2006 We're thinking about shipping our bags from DFW to Genoa using Silversea's program. Has anyone else used their program and if so, do you have any comments?
LOGHL Posted March 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2006 NOT CHEAP !!!!...But..we feel it is well worth it. On our most recent cruise, we hit areas with that had diverse temperatures...so had to have clothes for both warm & COLD climates. After leaving the ship we were to be touring for 10 days in a few different areas, and a couple of airlines. Sent home 2 pieces of luggage from Bangkok to Florida.. We have sent clothes home that way on a couple of other occassions, and felt it was well worth it..
itzfitz Posted March 27, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2006 To those who have used this service, what is the approximate cost of shipping one suitcase from US to Europe? Thanks for the reply. Patty
duct tape Posted April 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2006 The ships use DSL, I think. They charge about $12-$15 per pound. There are other services such as Luggage Free and Virtual Bellhop that charge about $6.50 per pound. They both have websites or you can Google something like luggage services and view prices. DSL, FedEx and UPS also post their prices. Hope this helps.

blackbird71 Posted April 3, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 3, 2006 Luggage Express runs/is Virtual Bellhop. Right they both belong to the same parent company. My question is I was looking at one of their sites and they and Crystal have a partnership. I wonder if they work with other cruiselines.... duct tape Posted April 3, 2006 #8 Share Posted April 3, 2006 Yes, BB. They do. Some ports are easier than others for them...sometimes it is easy and sometimes it is not. I would ask about the specific port before using them again.
