Manhattan Cruise Port - Avis Car Rental

Recommended Posts

Sailing out of Manhattan cruise port later this year. I will be renting one way rental from AVIS neighborhood location near my home and drop off Avis neighborhood location near the terminal. Will pickup another one-way rental from Manhattan upon return.

There are two AVIS location about ~1 mile from cruise terminal i)515 W43rd St and ii) 153 W54 St. Pricing is the same for both

1. Based on your experience, do you recommend one over the other?

2. Does anyone of them provide shuttle (I am sure they dont but I could be wrong)?

3. Can someone share their pickup/drop off experience at these location (Pickup during a day or disembarkation could get crazy with wait times)?

I doubt there is a predictable difference between the two.  I am interested in the notion - folks who want to drive for a cruise rather than take a train or fly should consider your option - two one-way rentals can be a whole lot cheaper than pier parking.

I live 6 hours away from port. my plan is to drive day before embarkation. Sleep overnight 2 hours away from port at a hotel and then drive next morning to port. My family enjoy road trip.

I do see flying as option but flight prices are currently expensive maybe they go down 90 days before flight time.

As for pier parking, because of my corporate discount, I get cheap quotes for one way rental (same as regular rental) so it is more economical

If you are coming from New England, you should consider La Quinta motel - I95 exit 6 in Stamford , CT.  About an hour from city, easy on/off, decent diner attached.

I will be coming through I-80. In the past I have stayed around border of Pennsylvania and New Jersey along the highway
