bohaiboy Posted June 5 #1 Share Posted June 5 We are disembarking in Southampton next June. We will need to hire a car to visit some friends in Penzance and Wales, returning to Heathrow. How does one get to the car rental agencies in Southampton s none seem to be near the cruise terminus. TIA.
gumshoe958 Posted June 5 #2 Share Posted June 5 I’ve never used them but I believe Hertz and Europcar have locations that are easily walkable from the Horizon & City terminals (a short cab ride from the others), and Enterprise and Alamo have locations next to Southampton Central rail station, only a 5-10 minute cab ride from all terminals. fruitmachine Posted June 5 #3 Share Posted June 5 Enterprise will pick you up for free within 10 miles. Others may do something similar. https://www.enterprise.co.uk/en/car-hire/free-pick-up-drop-off-service.html
Rare John Bull Posted June 5 #4 Share Posted June 5 Hertz & Europcar are close to City & Horizon Cruise Terminals - in fact they're right in front of City, but unless you fancy climbing the 12ft port fence they're a 10 - 15 minute walk. Enterprise, National & Alamo are a 5-minute taxi ride. The major agencies not in the city are Avis and SixT, both are at Southampton airport, a 20-minute £20 -£25 taxi ride from any cruise terminal - but close to the M27 motorway to start you on your journey to Cornwall.. All the above are national/international brands with depots at Heathrow. But do check one-way rental fees, insurance excesses, and sunday opening hours.
