Upgrade- What Perks Gained, and What Extra Fees?

Recommended Posts

Looking to bid on a Forward Facing Haven Penthouse With Balcony. Currently have a category B6 balcony stateroom. We do not have Free at Sea

What benefits would we gain if the bid is accepted? Perks?

What extra charges, other than our upgrade bid would we incur? E.g. extra gratuity to the concierge or Butler?

you get into the exclusive Haven areas , and Restaurant.  I believe the daily gratuity for Haven guests is higher than the daily service charge for everyday passengers.  I also believe the gratuity does not include the Butler or Concierge, you tip both of those according to what you want, separately from the DSC. Escorted embarkation ( you don't have to wait with the big crowd to get on ship) and debarkation ( one of the first off the ship).

More luxurious toiletries, big fluffy bathrobes, daily snacks left in your cabin for afternoon treats.

Remember the bid price you offer is per person, for the first two people,, not for the cabin.

No other extra perks added to your reservation, if you don't have FAS, you still won't have it.

Prior response is correct - butler & concierge are not included in DSC so need to be tipped extra.  Also DSC is slightly higher in haven.

No charge for room service in haven.  Also access to special dining area at breakfast & lunch (& dinner on some ships)

Butler will help with dining reservations and maybe show reservations.  Reserved area of seating for main shows (at least in most ships, not 100% sure it is EVERY ship)

Priority tender tickets or ability to get off ship quickly in ports if needed.

Having a nicer, more comfortable area to wait pre-embarkation and priority embarkation are great benefits.  Not sure if the latitudes (platinum & above) is the same area and probably depends on which port.

Debarkation is also separate from the "crowds" and not as congested.

Your luggage will be in a separate area the end of the cruise, makes it easier to find. The concierge is the one who handles your dinner reservations and shore excursions - anything outside of the cabin. The butler handles everything inside the cabin along with the room steward.
