I packed my husband's tux and our son't dress blues (USMC) in dry cleaners bags and folded them over in the suitcase. Came through without a wrinkle. I had them on top so just lifted them out of the suitcase and hung them up. Dry cleaners bags work wonders. Use them for my formals and dresses, too. Joan

By bulky suit bag, do you mean a garment bag?? I couldn't go on a cruise without that garment bag. I put husband's Tux, sportcoat, formal shirts and my formal gowns, plus most of our shoes in there, so considering it's rather small size it's got a lot in it. I also make sure everything is protected in a plastic garment bag. The ones from the dry cleaner work fine, but I like the stronger bags that came with the clothes when I origanally bought them. All of my gowns are sequined, so the bags really help protect them and I think that husband's jackets are less wrinkly with them. I find things get a lot less wrinkly in a garment bag than a suitcase. Less squishing I guess.

I have had good luck with just folding my husband's suit coat and pants with a couple of layers of tissue paper inside each of them and putting them in a 2 gallon zipper bag. The bag gets packed into the suitcase with everything else. Since the suit gets hung up the first night on the cruise, it is fine for the formal night on day two with just a couple sprays of downy wrinkle release on the sleeves of the jacket. He always looks great and no one would ever know that the clothes had been folded at all.
