Oracle Light Posted July 25 #1 Share Posted July 25 Hello, we will be docking in Messina this Fall and would like to know if there are any sites worth visiting either by ourselves or through a shore excursion tour company. We have already seen Taormina and would like to see something else. Thanks!

There have been a few past threads about this scenic tour and reading them might help you decide if this might be an option to consider .https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q=godfather&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=464 Edited July 25 by edinburgher
Rare kctwinmommy Posted July 27 #3 Share Posted July 27 (edited) I would totally recommend a trip up Mt. Etna!! It was just surreal to be walking up there! It's a pretty full day trip from the port, but worth it. Just a couple pics. I have a bunch more in my review on the Viking page. PurpleTraveller Posted July 28 #4 Share Posted July 28 (edited) I have been to Messina a few times. On my recent visit there I went on a tour to Tindari on the north coast of Sicily to visit the beautiful Cathedral and its Black Madonna and to visit the small archeological park. The views of the coast were a bonus. On a previous visit I went on a tour to the Godfather villages of Savoca and Forza d'Agro which are both lovely. Also had great views of the coast. Both tours were great to see small hilltop villages, great views of the coastline and be away from crowds.
