RIB vs regular boat excursion in Qaqortoq

Recommended Posts

Hello, We have the option of doing an "Iceberg Quest" excursion in Qaqortoq on a RIB or a regular boat. The excursions seem pretty similar (price, length, description) except that the RIB excursion seems to necessitate wearing a body suit, and I am not a big fan of having to do this.  The goal in doing this excursion would be to get close to icebergs.  Would we likely get a lot closer to icebergs on the RIB excursion as compared to the regular boat? What would the other differences be?  Thanks in advance.

A RIB goes faster and can cover more area - depends on where the bergs are.  You will get sprayed.  All boats will have a safe distance they can approach an iceberg, probably the same distance for any small boat.  Icebergs can turn over without notice so you don't want to get too close.

RIB doesn't have a bathroom, and you wouldn't be able to use one in an exposure suit.
