My Transfers Heathrow to Southampton

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used My Transfers to get from Heathrow to Southampton? They say the driver will wait for one hour after our plane lands. We will have to go through customs and pick up our luggage. I have a new knee, so I don’t walk very fast, I’m just wondering if one hour will be enough time? If you have used them, will they wait beyond one hour? I have a message in to the company, but thought I would ask about personal experiences here. Thanks!

Bear in mind that this is a booking agency, registered in Spain, rather than an actual UK transfer company. As such, drivers will be contractors, rather than company employees. That's not to suggest there is anything amiss with the company but I'd always prefer to pay my money to folk actually providing the service.

.

My Transfers say that the one hour is from the actual landing time rather than the scheduled landing time. But one hour is mean - customs is a simple walk-through but there can be delays at immigration or baggage reclaim. And it's a long walk from some gates.

I've not known other operators to set that limit. And advice on Cruise Critic for those booking a bus transfer is not to book a transfer less than 90 minutes after scheduled landing and to pay the little extra for flexible tickets.

But another of their terms to bear in mind is that if the aircraft is  3+ hours late you lose the booking and the money that you've paid. Whilst such delays are a pain to the transfer operator as well as the traveller, most (all?) other operators simply swallow the cost to them - I've not known of other operators who wash their hands & keep the money.  https://www.mytransfers.com/en/faq/

Because My Transfers (I'd never heard of them) offer transfers world-wide they appear to be a booking agency, not an operator.

This can lead to confusion and blame-shifting.

Neither the awful reviews on TripAdvisor nor the good reviews from trusted sites such as TrustPilot are of any use because they usually reflect on the operator rather than the booking agency, and neither a bad review for a trip to Manchester airport nor a glowing review for a trip from Barcelona airport is of any value to you.

I suggest you book with one of the well-known and long-established Heathrow operators such as https://www.justairports.london/ or https://www.addisonlee.com/ or https://www.blackberrycars.com/

Or a Southampton-based operator - you'll normally get a more customer-focused service than from an airport operator. Try https://tccsouthampton.co.uk/ or  https://irideuk.co.uk/airport-taxi/ or https://www.aquacars.co.uk/
