Has anyone had luck locating left-behind items?

Yes, and I was so surprised. I asked almost the same question about a month ago and several people encouraged me to contact lost and found.

 

We were on the Veendam Christmas cruise and left some swimwear, but didn't really realize it until late February. I sent an email....there is a specific link for lost & found on the HAL website. I received a reply within several days asking for a description of the items. They said they would check and a reply might take several weeks. I really didn't have much hope that we would ever see them again, but I got a phone call a week or so later saying they had them and would send them right out. Two days later they were at my door!

 

Good luck, it's worth the try.
