sfvoyager Posted April 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2006 What is the smoothest transition from the ship to a private water taxi? I will be disembarking very early in the morning from the Golden Princess after a night stay. Will it be a long line to get a water taxi? What is the approximate cost? How difficult will it be to transfer the luggage from the pier to the water taxi? (We will be two people with four suitcases and four carryons.) Fabulous2B50 Posted April 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2006 We are doing the exact same thing when we disembark from Golden Princess on June 15. Staying at the same hotel, so I know the only way is for us to get a water taxi. I think I read a post a long time ago that in order to get a water taxi from the cruise ship pier, you have to go inside somewhere in the cruise ship terminal to get a ticket or reservation for it first in order to possibly avoid a long line. As far as getting luggage from pier to the taxi, I don't know. My daughter and I have been promising each other that we are only bringing a week's worth of clothes since we can do laundry on the ship! We just returned from a week in Hawaii and we both barely wore half of what we brought. We also had self service laundry at the resort and it was so nice to bring home a suitcase full of clean clothes! I was thinking about emailing the Westin for suggestions on the best way to get to the hotel from the pier as I am sure they have guests who do what we are doing all the time. If I get around to doing this, I will try to let you know.
sfvoyager Posted April 7, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Thank you for keeping me posted if you learn anything. I did, in fact, email the Excelsior, and so far no response. If I learn anything, I will post as well.
blossiem Posted April 7, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2006 I emailed the Westin Excelsior regarding transfers from the airport - we are staying there for three nights pre cruise. They did respond with a comprehensive email detailing 3 options and their costs, however it did take a good few days for the response if my memory serves me right. Happy cruising! Fabulous2B50 Posted April 8, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2006 Can I get the correct email address for the hotel? I also want to find out the best option for cruise ship to hotel transfer and if I need to contact a water taxi company prior to disembarking, as well as to reserve a taxi to the airport. Aussie Gal Posted April 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2006 When we disembarked in Venice a couple of years ago, in the terminus where we collected our luggage, a desk was set up and the people there were organizing the water taxis. You paid the people at the desk and took a ticket. You then went outside with your luggage and the water taxis just kept coming up to the dock. It was very easy. We actually shared our taxi with another couple so it was not quite as expensive as we thought. We only went just past San Marco square and at the time it was around 50Euros a couple. Fabulous2B50 Posted April 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 9, 2006 Thanks Aussie Gal. One more question. Can you pay for the water taxi with a credit card or is it cash only? Thanks
Aussie Gal Posted April 9, 2006 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2006 Fabulous2B20, As we paid cash I am not sure whether credit card is accepted or not. Sorry I cannot help you on that. Jennie
