QueenYaYah Posted April 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2006 Hey - just wondering if the lifeboats are visible (when looking down) from balcony on the veranda deck??? We have booked cabin #5101 on the veranda deck (own first balcony cabin) Does anyone know how far out the lifeboats "stick out" from the sides of the ship
dakrewser Posted April 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2006 They don't stick out at all. The boats are over the deck, not the water. They swing out on davots when needed.
K&RCurt Posted April 5, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2006 The lifeboats are visible right below the edge of the veranda on the veranda deck. Here's a photo from cabin 5092 on the Westerdam (sister ship to the Zuiderdam). The photo is looking toward The quay in Tortola but the lifeboats forward can be seen. The life boats do not interfere with your view of the sea or ports. You just can't see the Promenade Deck below.
