Timing in San Juan... how long

Dock in San Juay at 7.oo am/ What is a realistic guesstimate on getting off, through customs, etc etc and getting to SJU airport. Have a couple of choices on flight times and don't want to hang around if we don't have to, but also don't want to put ourselves under undue pressure at the end of a relaxing holiday. Thanks so much for the info.

Anything before 10:30am might be pushing it. If you get off the ship by 8:30am and it is about 15-20 minutes to the airport, you are getting close with check-in and security.

When we were in San Juan last february, we had flights out at 12.15 and we barely made it, so be carefull!

A long wait to get through customs off the ship and long lines at the airport also! Transfer to the airport only takes 15-20 minutes!

It can be done. The stress level is high, but if you have an early flight you can get off the ship first and get to the airport in time. We made a 9am flight. Just make sure you request the 'rush' group and not the 'first' group. There is a big difference! You must provide the airline and flight number. All that being said the key to our success was that we had strictly carryon bags -- we each had a roll-a-board and garment bag. We also pulled our boarding passes on ship. We were then able to bypass the ticket counter and head directly to security. The lines at the counter at that hour are horrendous and the chances of making an very early flight are nil. It's a helluva way to end a relaxing week at sea and given my druthers I'd be taking a later flight.
