Majesty of the Seas?

Recommended Posts

Hi I am quite new to the boards but they offer so much info that I thought I might try it out. Has anyone here sailed on Majesty of the Seas before? Have you liked it? I am sailing on june 5 thru 9 and am right in the middle of deck seven. Is this a good deck to stay on? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

You will LOVE the Majesty. She was our first experience of cruising and we were completely hooked after that.

Be sure to read your 'Cruise Compass'- a little newspaper they deliver to your cabin every night which lets you know all the next day's activities.

The only thing I didn't like was that the cruise wasn't long enough..... four days just gives you a taste for it. You're just starting to get the hang of it and find your way around and then you have to pack up again..... :)

Majesty was my first ship too! For her age, she has been maintained very well. Deck 7 should be good too, we were on deck 2 near the bow. Not real good here, as the anchor dropping and the fact the dishwashing station was right behind our inside cabin. It was only 4 days, so we wern't complaining. Also, I won 500.00 in the casino with a 20 dollar bill:eek: ! Paid for my cruise and souvenirs with money left over:cool: . I definately caught the cruise bug on this cruise. 1 year later I'm going on my 3rd, another transatlantic. I can't wait!!! Hope you have as good a experience as I and the previous posters did. We have sailed on the Majesty several times for our anniversary and we love the size and staff. 7th deck is a great deck becaude of all the activity. It is a great ship to get acquainted with cruising. My DW was terrified of cruising (suffers from motion sick & Closter phobic. She was physically shaking getting on the ship) before we went on our 1st cruise. By the 2nd day she said "I can handle this". By the 2rd day she said we need to do this again. By the 3rd day she said "we have to do this again". We are sailing again next year and looking forward to cruising again and again.:D

Since you have sailed on Majesty of the Seas several times, what types of cabins have you stayed in?

Have you ever been on deck 8 in the obstructed view cabins and if so, how obstructed was the view?

Thanks for your input.

We have been on her a few times also. Always an outside cabin on lower decks(I dont do well with motion and this is the best place for me on this ship). We pick mid ship deck 2 most times. Small yes but a great little ship and love the peopel who work on her.

I sailed on her last year, was upgraded from inside to deluxe oceanview for FREE! We had a few problems with the cabin steward, but I think they may have gotten confused, as we were upgraded at the pier! It's a great ship for a first time experience, and by the time it's over you'll be dying for a 7 day! My very first cruise was on the Sovereign (sister-ship) and I was totally hooked!!!

I've had an obstructed on deck 8 and loved it. We could see water out the window and it was great to have the natural light. It was also a very convenient deck to be on, easy to get to everything. I think it's a great bargain price cabin. I would take it again in a heartbeat.

One note about deck 7 if you have an oceanview cabin. This is the promenade deck so there will be people walking outside your cabin at all hours of the day or night so remember to close the blinds if you don't want people to see anything. You might also want to bring ear plugs if you are light sleepers just in case. I had a deck 7 cabin on the Monarch (sister ship) 2 weekends ago and a group of people had a loud party outside our room at 2am on the first night (this was according to my cruising partner - I was dead to the world and didn't hear it).

Saratogain, Welcome to the boards and to the world of cruising. We got off the Majesty on 3/31 and loved the ship. We were on Deck 2 convenient to get off for the ports and had no problems with elevators. Actually took the stairs a lot to get to the other floors just to try to get some exercise. Only bad part was it was too short. Next time DH said we'll do a B2B:D . The crew reminded us a lot of the Empress of the Seas crew, very friendly and conscientious. Also our meals were great. We were just discussing this last night and decided that when we've been on the smaller ships our food seems so much better, don't know why but it did.

Enjoy, Debbie

Pamcdon- we were in 8076,which was an obstructed view outside cabin.

It was a last minute trip so I didn't really have any choice -it was what was available, and when we got to the pier it did occur to me that I had probably bought what no-one else wanted, but really the room was fine. We could see the bottom of a lifeboat when looking up,but we could see the ocean and the scenery without problem.I wouldn't hesitate to get one again.

We have had inside and balcony rooms since then, sometimes I think the view is worth it and sometime not. I sail with my two grandsons and we spend very minimal time in the cabin- they don't really look at the view at all- too busy swimming, basketballing, cruising the ship and teen hangouts!:)

My 4 sisters and I took our mom for her 70th Birthday on the Majesty. Three of us had cruised before. Everyone loved it! The time was so relaxing. We took in the shows and even went to a movie. We walked around Atlantis and enjoyed Coco Cay. As others have said, just too short! Enjoy it!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just wanted to stop by and say HI to everyone.....

Majesty was my first ship too!:) Absolutely loved it. DH had to convince me for a long time to try the cruise, since he had been on 2 before. So I gave in and we went on our honeymoon. It was great, we were on deck 4, mid ship ocean view. Coco cay was our favorite day, and if they still offer the Champagne Sailaway Catamaran tour on the Nassau day, take it! The only drawback is it cuts into formal night dinner if you have the late seating.

Enjoy!!
