Radisson Hotel/ Charleston

We will be going on a cruise Christmas week and are trying to find a hotel to stay the night before and to leave the car at for the week. Does anyone know anything good or bad about this hotel? How far is it from the port?

Firstly, the hotel is isn't in Charleston, the hotel is in North Charleston which is another city. In good traffic you are 15-20 minutes from the port. In heavy traffic, 25-40 minutes from the port.

 

Do you not want to stay downtown? Whatever money you save with free parking will be taken up by transportation to and from downtown.

 

I would bet even if you don't stay downtown, someplace like the Hampton Inn Mt. Pleasant or the Hilton at Patriots Point would have a free shuttle.

 

Honestly, unless you have an early early flight or convention to attend, there is no reason to stay out by the airport.

Blue Herons---Thanks for your info. It doesn't matter where we stay as long as it is clean. We will be driving from Ma. and thought if we were staying in a hotel we should find one to just leave the car there while we were on the ship. Is down town the best area to be in ? Do you know of any hotels downtown that would let you leave your car?

I am thinking I have read Mt. Pleasant is very close to the port (its just out of Charleston in a great, safe location).

 

There is a Homewood Suites in Mt. Pleasant that is awesome!! Very clean, great bedding, granite counters, a free huge full breakfast buffet daily, free dinner Mon-Thurs night. I just can't recommend it enough. Here is a link:

and the phone # is : 1-843-881-5414 I would call them to see if they offer any type of free parking. However, I have read on a different board that there weren't any hotels that offered it, but that poster may have been mistaken. Hope this helps! :)

Very few of the downtown hotels have any parking and you have to park in a parking garage at about $8.00 to $10.00 per night. I would stay in Mt. Pleasant. I am sure there is a hotel there with a shuttle who would allow you to leave your car in their parking lot. North Charleston is about 15 miles away from the port.
