Using a Visa Giftcard or AMEX giftcard?

Hi,

We're taking a cruise in this summer(c'mon july!). It's my husband's first, my second.

I was trying to surprise him and pay for as much of the 'extras' as i could on my own (Happy Anniversary!). I was planning on getting a visa gift card and use that and use with our credit card (as a back up for when it runs out) for our SeaPass charges.

Has anyone ever done this? Or should I just call RC and ask them if they will accept it? I don't see why they wouldn't.....

Thanks!

You can definitely use your debit card or a check card. As long as it says Mastercard or Visa, or American Express it is accepted. We cruise all the time and use our debit card - no problems.

As far as I know, you cannot use a Visa or Mastercard gift card that does not have your name embossed on it. The ship purser will NOT accept it. I would suggest Travellers Checks if you don't want to load up your credit card.

Darn, i guess i won't be digging out all those Visa gift cards, i will have to go on a shopping spree to use them all up.
