Nevertoolate Posted April 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2006 Have been on three X cruises, but are Diamond members on RCCL; this, from what I read, gives us Elite status when we next go on an X cruise. So - what are the perks? One category upgrade - if we reserve a balcony where would we go from there? Any information on what you have had or expect to receive would be helpful. Thanks. CaliforniaDreamin Posted April 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2006 Sorry, the upgrade does not apply to Balcony and suites. Only for inside to one cat higher inside and outside to one cat higher outside. Not from inside to outside or outside to balcony. You have to ask for the upgrade when making the reservation. They will charge for the cat cabin one below what you reserve. I was going to give you the link to Captain's Club on www.celebrity.com but the site was down for maintenance. Just go there when it's back up and look for Captain's Club to find a list of perks.
Maggie 3 Posted April 16, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2006 Do I understand this if we have been on RCCL and Celebrity we can put the number of trips togather and move up in captins club? Thanks
rubrrick Posted April 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2006 Do I understand this if we have been on RCCL and Celebrity we can put the number of trips togather and move up in captins club? Thanks Actually, that is not correct. What each line allows is if you are a member of an upgraded group on one line, the other will acknowledge the same. IE........if you are Platinum on RCCL......you will automatically be Select on X. The lines do not add the two lines together to put you in a higher catagory. Hope this helps. Jeano222 Posted April 16, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 16, 2006 Combining credits for instance 4 from RCCL and 6 from Celebrity is not how it works. Not like airlines where you can fly on Nortwest but have your miles applied to continental. The deal with the cruises are if you reach one level with one cruiseline you also are at that level with the other. I had 4 credits on RCCL and just got a total of 10 on Celebrity and they now have us at Elite on Celebrity and we are now Diamond on RCCL.

We have never actually eaten with the captain - we have eaten with the Hotel Director a couple times and the Chief Engineer once. Sometimes they don't have enough room for everyone to be invited (there might be a whole bunch of Elite members on any particliar cruise), so you are not guarenteed the invite, but it is fun. florisdekort Posted April 16, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 16, 2006 On our Millennium cruise in March Elite members where invited for a Bridge Tour. That was definately a first for me! Best Regards, Floris
Nevertoolate Posted April 17, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted April 17, 2006 Thankyou all. I guess we are now Diamond/Elite which adds incentive to having another cruise - which I really don't need, just going on a cruise is enough. I am, however, a little disappointed with the one category upgrade benefit. I, too am a "California Dreamer" and dreamin of going from a Balcony to a mini-suite or similar. Oh, well, can't have everything. Husband already did a visit to the bridge on Adventure of the Seas, but have never had an invite to eat at the Captain's table Maybe the casino credit will be more than the $2 RCL gave. In any case, it is interesting and thank you for the information. Shall go to Celebrity's site in a couple of days and maybe learn a little more. DaytonGirl Posted April 17, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2006 One very good perk of being an elite member - 10% off Xpeditions. If you've priced these you know this is a great deal. We just saved $800 when we went to the Galapagos.
