Pride of America in April 06 - First Time Cruise

We just got back from our PofAm cruise -

 

Word of advice to all first time cruisers (naturally everyone has their own opinion) - don't let other reviews ruin it for you - you judge for yourself -we loved it.

 

We didn't have anything to compare to, but we thought everything was great.

 

don't get scared with all these people writing negative comments about it. Service was good, food was good, entertainment could have been better, but we still enjoyed it, excursions were a lot of fun, the Islands are beautiful, room was great (we had a balcony on the port side forward).

 

Even the weather cooperated. it rained for two minutes on day in Maui and it drizzled for five minutes on Friday when we are on the sea

We did a lot of excursions

 

We did the Kilauea Lava Viewing Adventure Hike - Fun hike and a lot of walking on uneven ground. You actually go as close as half a mile to the live lava

We did the Valley Waterfall Hiking - We think this was the best hike, great trail and beautiful scenery a long the way. The trail is on the cliff, so you have to be careful, but easy to do. In the end we reached a 600 ft waterfall, and you can go behind it and take pictures.

Then there was the discover Jungle falls by Kayak - kayak was fun, hike was small - we didn't enjoy the hike at all.

Atlantis Submarine - good for kids, we wouldn't do it again, couldn't have used this time for whale watching

Luau - a lot of fun, food was decent, entertainment was good. If you have never been on a lua, it was fun

Road to hana - long, but fun.wouldn't do it again. The good thing about doing it with a group is that you are not driving and can enjoy the view. The view by itself was worth it. Some of our pictures came out real nice. Great for photo op. Roads have a lot of twist and turns and you could get motion sickness out there. Road is narrow and have a lot of one car bridges.

Helicoptor tour in Kauaii with Blue Hawaiian - we thought it was amazing, great view of the napali coast and some beaches, showed us the crater and caves, flew through vallyes.

So glad to hear that you had a good experience! I had a group on that cruise and they all were terribly disappointed. I really needed to read something positive! Thanks!
