hermang Posted April 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2006 On our recent Connie trip to CDC we made a port call to CDC. Our hope was to take the shorex that stopped at the Cigar factory but alas it was sold out literally on the first day. Our table mates did take the shorex and bought a box of Tabinellas - apparently a local brand and very inexpensive. He wasn't sure if they were good or bad so he only bought one box. When he came back he tried on and was very pleasantly surprised as to how good they were. He gave me one to enjoy and I concurred. Ok so now we are both unhappy me because I didn't get to buy a box and and he because he only bought one. Did a google search the other day and found that JR Cigar sells that brand for only a few bucks more than he paid in the DR - so I ordered 2 boxes of 25 @ 29.95 each. These are Indonesian wrapper with Dominican Filler #48 x 6" anyone who appreciates a good cigar and is looking for one at a reasonable price and happens to be going to CDC might appreciate this info
ebm1979 Posted April 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2006 Thanks for the tip! Im a regular JR Cigar customer.. This guy got a great deal. When we were there in 2004 on the Millie, I bought some Cubans and they charged my Visa card $4400 Dominican. It turned out to be $42 US. I made up for it though by buying some local beer for 35 cents a bottle and taking it back on the ship. I know CDC gets a lot of bad opinions but my wife and I enjoyed it very much, John
