Rent a car or take a cab?

We are planning to go to the San Gervasio ruins and snorkeling at Dzul Ha. Should we rent a car or take a cab? If we need to take a cab to pick up the rental car wouldn't it just be cheaper and faster to take the cab to the ruins? Also, is it difficult to get gas for the car? TIA

If all you wanted to do is go to the ruins, then a cab would be cheaper. If you wanted to explore the island then a rental car would be better. There is a gas station across the street from the rental car places where the Royal Caribean ships dock.
