Nassau activities in what order, please.

I leave in just 4 days to begin my vacation!! We're stopping in Nassau from 8-5 sunday. There are alot of things I'd like to see but not sure the best order to go and whether to take Jitney or taxi so any help would be appreciated:) Also, other suggestions are appreciated.

Things we'd like to see/do:

Both Forts

Queens Staircase

Carriage Ride - does this just tour downtown streets?

Straw Market (would like to do near the end of our stay)

Try some local foods

Debating on Atlantis - not sure if we'd have enough time to do that and if it's worth the money (I've read so many mixed reviews) I think if we would have lots of time left I'd probably go since we don't really care to go to the beach (if we make it to cocay before to nassau)

Thanks to anyone with input.

We just got back from our cruise on Sovereign today. We went to Atlantis and was disappointed. It is very pretty to look at, but I did not think the dig for $29 pp was worth it.

We absolutely loved Coco Cay. It was our favorite part of the trip. We had a blast on the wave runners!

We will be in nassau on Wed, October 18 7:00 am thru 19th 2:00 pm and want to do both, looking for input on this. anyone done these? What about this atlantis place, does the party boat go there? Are these things within walking distance from the ship (I understand that transportation is a little hard to get in nassau)?

We booked our wave runners ahead of time on the royal caribbean website under shore excursions. You can book when you get there, but go to the wave hut as soon as you arrive. The wave runners seemed to be very popular when we were there.

The Party Boat leaves the downtown dock and goes out to a small island off the end of paradise island. Depending on which excursion, you'll either snorkel or swim at your island destination.

There's also a booze cruise that you may be interested in taking, since you have the time. www.boozecruisebahamas.com

This is a pretty long day.. so you may not get 2 excursions n if you choose this.

Most tours run from 1 - 4:30pm, with a few morning beach break tours.

Atlantis is on Paradise Island, and is accessible by cab or ferry boat.

Cabs ($4) are readily available from outside the port, ferries ($3) run every 30 minuites from 9am-6pm from the nearby wharf.

Atlantis pools/ slides and outdoor facilites are NOT open to the public, you can use the Casinos, check out the marina village, lobbies and shopping.

The DIGS aquarium is accessible for a $29 entry fee. This still does not allow you pool/slide/beach access.

So, do they offer these booze cruises year round? Im a little nervous booking something through a different website and paying for it when it has nothing to do with carnival.

I was in Nassau in Feb. We stayed at another resort but went to Atlantis every day. We walked the DIG for free at night and gambled very little. The stores there are the best. I thought the straw market was cr*p. unless you want an expensive knock off purse which are bought on the streets of New York and shipped there. Way cheaper here. Atlantis was beautiful. I enjoyed walking around the resort but would not pay to go!

The Digs at Atlantis is free at night? How much of it are you actually able to see? Is it well lit up? What type of shops are at the Atlantis? We will be on the Dawn and she only docks from 8pm to 12 noon the next day, so we are trying to make the most of our time and I thought we could maybe visit Atlantis at night. Would we have trouble getting a cab or ferry back to the dock later in the evening? Thanks!:)

Coco Cay is RCCL private island and is a tender port weather/waves Permitting. IT should be listed as a separate port.

I second these questions.

My Wife and I are looking at other activites during the day and hitting Atlantis after dinner on the ship.

Was curious how late the taxis/ferries run and how late the shops in Atlantis are open?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ferries stop at 6pm, but taxi's are available 24/7 from the Tower exits as well as any other restaurant or club that is open late. Make sure you agree on a price before you get in the cab. Rate should be $8 for 2 ppl and $3 for each add'l person going back to the ship. From ship to Atlanitis you should pay $4 pp plus $1 toll for the car.. or $3 pp for the ferry.

I can help here. To me this is the best itinerary we did this on the Dawn last May. It was so much fun and so little money. We got off the ship when it arrived at night nice to see at night. Took a cab to Atlantis very cheap and did the "Dig" for free very nice and lit up great. I wouldn't paid $29 but for free it's worth it to go. Then we looked around the resort and my mother wonn $300 in the casino. The we took a cab to Senor Frongs had a few drinks and lots of dun there then t=back to the ship. What a great evening it was.

In the morning we got off early did the carriage ride for I think $10 then the straw market and back to the ship for sailaway.

This criuse of the Spirit we are doing Great Stirup Cay overnight I'm NOT looking forward to this. What can we do? Not big beach people so we can get off and do the night party with the bugs and pay NCL prices for drinks doesn't sound like as much fun at Nassau was at night.

Wish we were doing our over night there again.

Hope this helps I got pictures of the Dig I will find and post here.

Here they are, hope this helps some.
