Snorkeling from shore

Is there any good snorkeling right from shore, near Nassau, that you don't have to take a boat trip to get to. My experience in Cozumel and elsewhere has been that generally a nice sany beach isn't conducive to good snorkeling. We have our own gear.

Snorkeling from shore is minimal. Any reefs near the shore have been overused and depleted long ago. You'll have to take a tour in order to enjoy reef snorkeling or the sea gardens.

Our shores are mainly white sand and a little sea grass.
