pasc Posted April 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2006 We will sail on may 26th in Alaska on the Celebrity Mercury. What can we expect, i am little bit nervous after all the reviews i read about the novovirus. We sailed last november on the Constellation and loved that. Also, i am not sure about helicopter tours between Pilot Choice in Juneau or in Skagway. Also, what should we do in Ketchikan ? We have to choose between one expensive tour in Juneau Skagway and Ketchikan (MistyFjord) What is the best. If it's foggy in Seward, should we even try the train or another excursion Thank you all for your help !
trcori Posted April 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2006 We sailed Alaska on Mercury last summer and on Infinity in August '03. Both times, no pricey excursions, just awesome exploration. Juneau -- go see Mendenhall Glacier (before it's gone!) -- shuttle buses from right near the dock. Skagway -- rent a car and drive White Pass to the Yukon. Wow. Ketchikan -- rent a car and drive to Totem Bight & Settler's Cove state parks. Spectacular. Just another viewpoint ... TR
johnlcruise Posted April 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2006 Was on the Mercury last May for the Alaska trip. Dont be nervous. I'm sure that the novovrius will be taken care of before then, if not allready..All it takes afew people on this board to make a big deal out of nothing..Dont get get me wrong, Its bad what happen. But by May, I would be suprise IF it's still a promblem. This was our first time on the Mercury (we have 20 cruise's under our belt) and the ship and crew was GREAT. They made you feel at home and I found the ship easy to get around. Remember its a older ship and smaller then the big new one's. But I like the older and smaller ships..More personal. I would sail the Mercury any time.:)
