GatorTide Posted April 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2006 Just thought I'd throw this out there to see if anyone had any comments. DH and I are nonsmokers and we are wondering if we'll be up against more smoking since we'll be on a European itinerary. We'll be on the Galaxy in June, in case that helps. chessbriar Posted April 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2006 Yes, there are quite a few more smokers. It's brought on by the large number of European cruisers. Smoking is far more prevelant in Europe than here in the States. So you will run into more and they my not be as considerate.
Xcruzr Posted April 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2006 When on Millie doing the Mediterrian cruise we did encounter more smokers. We did run across some smoking issues, mostly in restuarants on shore. That being said, they were usually pretty good about smoking in designated areas on the ship and were considerate of others. The one area that it became an issue was the lounge outside of the dinning rooms. This is smoking on one side and non-smoking on the other. The smoke did occassionally drift across. newmexicoNita Posted April 28, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2006 The good news: even in Europe smoking is losing it's popularity. NMNita
tony_b Posted April 28, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2006 Actually here in Scotland (part of Europe) smoking is completely banned in ALL public places, restaurants, pubs, bars, taxis, theaters, clubs, music venues, workplaces, even private clubs. This is I believe even stronger laws than those is all/most US states. Also, similar laws apply in Ireland, Finland, and ten other Euro Cities. I've actually found more respect for non-smokers in many European and certainly in Middle-Eastern Countries than encountered in parts of North America.
