Cell Phone in Bermuda?

Per my conversation with Verizon Wireless yesterday...

You can use your cell to 'phone home' at .69/min, however, you need to call them first and ask them to add an international plan to your phone. There is no charge for this plan.

I must have fixed on a post of that date, but that is the thread. I am leaving Saturday May 6 on the Zenith. I called Verizon and confirmed the 69 cent rate. I spoke with someone else that is going, but has a different cell carrier, and his company charges $1.99 min for Bermuda

When we were there Sept 04, we were able to use our Verizon phones. However, you cannot call anyone in Bermuda, nor they you (at least that was our experience). We could call home (Maryland). My suggestion is to check w/Verizon to see what service is current now. Things change all the time.....

We're going again this Sept on NCL our of NYC. Can't wait. Bermuda is wonderful!
