The SOS is great just got off her! The service is outstanding and the charm of being on an older/smaller ship is not to be missed. There are no balconies as of now so my fav spot to hang out was on deck 7 wonderful deck to pull up a chair get comfy with a book and enjoythe waves and the breeze!! ans it is just a few steps away from a great place to hang out schooners!! Enjoy your cruise! I will make a comment though i a have noticed a decline in th equality of food on the SOS no biggie but it is def not as top notch as it use to be. but this last cruise was better than the one I had on her before that one so they are making changes getting better etc....

I posted this a couple of weeks ago. Hope you have a great time!

Just returned (11 June 2004) from our second cruise on the Sovereign of the Seas. Our first trip was in September and we had a great time. After reading this board I was a little concerned that this would not be as good. Turned out there was no reason to be concerned at all. The trip was great.

Arrived at the Port at 10:30 a.m. and were on the ship by 11:00 a.m. As usual they had yellow birds to drink as you entered the ship. We had one and headed up to the pool deck. We ate lunch at noon at the Windjammer. This is not my favorite place to eat, but everything tasted good and it was hot (read many claims on this board about cold food). After eating we just hung our by the pool.

Our cabins (we had 3) were ready by 1:00 p.m. so we dropped off our carry-on bags. Some of the family took a nap while the rest toured the boat. The cabins (deck 9 Superior Oceanview) were very nice. Reasonable size and very clean. While I was out in the hall I met our Cabin Steward. He was very friendly and helpful. I gave him a tip in advance and asked that he keep our cooler filled with ice. Which he did faithfully. We received our bags around 3:00 p.m. This was plenty of time to get ready for the main dining.

We got to the dining room right at 6:00 p.m. and had to wait only a minute or so to get to our table. The menu had changed from our last cruise. We liked it better than our last cruise. Lots of choices and the food was very good. The service was outstanding. This was repeated every evening and each morning for breakfast.

That night we went to the casino. Everyone had a pretty good time trying their luck. We also went to the show. It was very good as well.

When we got back to our cabins the beds were turned down. (remember this is the first night)

Next day we went over to Coco Cay. The tenders ran at regular intervals so there was not much waiting. Had lunch (barbecue) on the island. Food was good. Then my sons and I headed over to take the Waverunner tour. I did this on the last trip and it’s a blast. You have to be prepared for a high speed trip through sometimes choppy waters. But if you go keeping that in mind you will love it.

Well I am not going to go through every day of the trip. But I will say we had a great time AGAIN. We had no problems at all for the 4 days. All of the service was great. Our cabin steward worked around our kids crazy sleeping hours (they were out quite late each night) which I am sure was difficult for him (we took very good care of him for his trouble) but regardless he kept the cabins perfect.

We had early debarkation and were in our car heading home by 8:17 a.m.

BA_FLA,

Great! Did you by any chance get a copy of the menus? Do you remember if they had a Steak and Lobster night? If no steak and lobster, do you remember what they served on that evening?

Thanks

We just got back from the 4 day cruise 06/21 - 06/25. Had a great time. The ship is a little worn in areas but is beautiful. We stayed in the Royal Suite for my husband's birthday and enjoyed the separate living room and 6 seat dining table. Our friends traveled with us in an Owner's Suite and we ordered in dinner one night and had room service snacks almost every day. Our friends got to the ship at 11:15 and were allowed to board. They asked to go to their room (my husband did not know they were going on the cruise with us - it was part of his brithday surprise.) They were initially told they could not go to their room but a quick visit to the purser's desk and Mark, the guest realations manager, personally escorted them to their room. He also sent champagne and 2 bottles of wine to our table every night of the cruise. Needless to say, we felt very pampered and very well taken care of. It was our friends' first cruise and they already called us about booking another one. This is a great ship and great itenerary. Have a ball.

We did have steak one night and Primer Rib another but no Lobster. We were very happy with the food selection and thought that everything we had for dinner was very good.

I would like to Thank everyone for answering my question. For the SOS going in to dry dock I just read that in Nov. 04 she will go and be almost redone. It mentioned putting balconys, pizza 24 hrs., all staterooms redone, and dinning rooms redone.

The Sovereign will be going into drydock on Nov. 15 until Dec. 10. She will be completely refurbished. The dining rooms and showroom, she will be getting a new lounge Boleros. She will also be getting balconies. I am already booked for the Jan. 31 sailing. If I recall, the teen will be getting their own disco too. I can't wait to see her again. I have been on her 7 times and haven't had a bad time yet.
