Modifying Itineraries to Conserve Fuel

Recommended Posts

It looks like in the future (2007/2008)Royal might be slowing some of their ships down to conserve fuel. If you look at the 2006 Explorer of the Seas Eastern Caribbean itinerary from Bayonne, it leaves on a Friday at 5pm and it scheduled to arrive in St. Thomas 3 days later at 1pm and yet the 2007 Eastern Caribbean itinerary shows the Explorer leaving again at 5pm from Bayonne but arriving in Puerto Rico (which is actually a slightly shorter distance from Bayonne than St. Thomas) 2 hours later at 3pm. I suppose it is possible that there is no dock space until that time in the afternoon but I have a feeling it might have more to do w/ conserving fuel.
