We are booked on the November 11th grand Carribean Adventurer cruise on the Sea Princess-VERY EXCITED. We are avid snorkelers-does anyone have feedback on great snorkel excursions either through the ship or independently? Also any info on cabins NOT to choose-or any other input? Anyone else on the November 11th cruise? Dean &Karen

Maclady....Are you ever in for a treat! One of the best snorkeling tours we took was in Barbados with Thriller Adventures. We started off snorkeling with the sea turtles, then headed to a beautiful reef and then on to some shipwrecks. I would highly suggest this tour and will take it again if we go to Barbados.

Another place that is great for snorkeling is Bonaire. It is a meca of beautiful fish no matter where you get in the water. We just took a water taxi to Klein Bonaire to no-name beach and snorkeled on our own. There is also a great guide named Renae there and I hear she knows the best places to take you. You can see my review on the Sea Princess below and also look at our pictures we took on some of our tours.

Hi, Maclady. Following are snorkeling recommendations for some of your ports (Patouche itinerary varies with day of the week. Check their web site):

Barbados – Silver Moon provides an excellent tour. Good on board lunch. Snorkeling with sea turtles was a unique experience.

Tortola – Patouche is a first rate operation. Again, a good on board lunch and a stop at Virgin Gorda where you can climb thru the rocks and spend some time on the beach. This was followed by a great snorkel stop at Cooper Island. The description of their dock location implies that it’s closer to the docks than they actual. You can walk it, but that snorkel bag gets mighty heavy, catch a cab. They provided a taxi van for the return.

Bonaire – Klein Island is renowned for both scuba and snorkeling. Klein is about a ten-minute boat trip, within visual sight of Bonaire. DiveInn Bonaire provides a good trip to Klein with both snorkelers and scubaers sharing the same boat. Sharing worked out just fine. We snorkelers were not ignored. The snorkeling is great. DiveInn’s shop is just across the street from the cruise dock. I took their morning trip and returned in time to take the ship’s snorkel trip in the PM. That boat stayed along Bonaire. The snorkeling there was excellent,as well.

Aruba – Took the ship’s tour with Jolly Pirates. I know it sounds like just a party boat, but it isn’t. This is an excellent snorkel trip with a great crew and decent on board lunch. One stop was over the shipwreck Antilla. I have never seen so many fish and varieties in one place. There were literally thousands. I can definitely recommend this trip, especially with have youngsters. The crew is entertaining and the lunch stop includes lots of rope swinging over and into the water.

St Lucia – We’ve been there twice. Both times took combined catamaran/shore trips booked thru the ship. Definitely worthwhile. This is a gorgeous, lush tropical isle.

Also, be sure to check the "Ports of Call" and "Scuba and Snorkeling" boards. The latter is under the "Cruise Discussion" topic. You'll find lots of good info.
