Hi all!

A couple of queries. Do the 'shuttle buses' run throughout the day to town, from the ship at Vila? Has anyone 'out there' done the reef fishing tour? ( the men in my family are keen fishermen, but the financier of the family is gasping at the cost...!). Also, are 'reef shoes' suitable for the cascades waterfall tour...it says to wear shoes you don't mind getting wet and I'd like to know if reef shoes would tolerate the terrain! Thanks!

i would just wear ordinary shoes. There sint much water there at the moment. YOu do have to cross a little bit of water but there were stepping stones. I dont think reef shoes would be sturdy enough as a it is a bit of a walk.

Not really worth unless you are really keen. It was hot and steamy when we wetn and quite expensive. Take toilet paper with you in case you need to go, there are toilets at the bottom but very basic. sorbent now have adult wetones which are great for this.

Yes, the buses and taxi's are there from the time the ship docks until the time the ship pulls away - they just go backwards and forwards between the town centre and the ship.

Thanks for your info kaseyoz & skyrules.

Most of the tours by P&O are expensive in comparison to pre-booking via other holiday sites, or just going with the flow once in port. Have either of you done the Ekasup Cultural Village tour? We want to do a tour in the morning & have the rest of the day free to check out the shops/markets.

One of our sons will be 12 years old on this cruise & I've read on other threads that P&O kids prices are for U12 years..does this really mean 12 years and under, or will we have to pay an adult fare for him on tours?

Cheers

Sorry Nerissa, don't I don't have kids so I haven't had to book kids tickets not sure wheth it's under 12 or 12 and under.

We didn't go to Ekasup, but I did hear other people on the cruise say that they had been there and it was good. The culture there is very interesting. We didn't go there as we'd seen a lot of the cultural stuff on Wala Island when we were there last year, and we figured it would be much the same thing - just in a more "commercial" environment, rather than in their actual villages on the Island.

Yes, we're not fond of 'commercialism' ourselves....we're surrounded by an awful lot in our own home town. No doubt our boys would enjoy the spears, hunting traps and cannibalistic past though! It's tough just finding something that will appeal to the majority!

We are off on the next pacific sun cruise and have booked the Ekasup Cultural tour also. We have a 12 year old and a 14 year old and yes we paid the kids price for the 12 year old. I can't remember off hand the exact price but it was around half of the adult price. We have booked the first tour in the morning too as we plan hiring a taxi or van to take us around and hopefully we will pay about $20 for this. then spend the rest of the time shopping and going to the markets etc.

I will be back on the 30th May and will let you know how it was and what the tour was like. I think it sounds good for kids of that age as it would be good for them to see the village culture. (hopefully they will appreciate our life more). Here's hoping anyway. :) :)

I did this tour last year and it was very good.I think children up to 12 would find it very interesting. Going again next week :D (like the sound of that) taking 8yo grandson,as I think he will like the spears and the mock fighting too.We booked the early one so it gives you plenty of time to have a look at the shops or go for a ride around.

According to the P&O brochure a child is up 12 years & 11 months. If you paid a child fare for the cruise for him then you will pay a child fare for the tour.

Hi Annette,

I will look forward to reading about your experiences, especially as our children are around the same age as yours. Also keen to hear of the places you visit in a taxi!

Cheers
