New York to Bermuda in October / Crown

Going on the crown in october from New York. If you've done this route before what can you tell me about the "typical" weather leaving from N.Y ? My last 2 cruises we left from florida ports and it was smooth sailing... If the weather is too cool I'm sure we wouldn't use the pool on the first day.... What did most people do. We're really not gamblers so the casino is out. Would love to hear your thoughts... Thanks

We sailed on the Crown last October, but from Philly. The day we embarked was quite warm and people were in the pool and hot tubs while we were leaving port. The first full day at sea was rainy and cool, we used the hot tubs that day. The days we were in Bermuda it was really nice weather. Mid 80's for air temps and about 78 degrees for water temp. The way back was nice except we hit some rain later on the last night from a hurricane that had already passed by. I would say we had a great week temp wise, but going at that time is always a gamble, since it is still hurricane season. We always travel in august, september and october and only one trip to South Carolina was a total washout. Have a great cruise and have a lot fun!!:p

  • 3 weeks later...

We sailed on the Pacific Princess to Bermuda from Boston (was supposed to be NYC, but it was a few weeks after 9/11 so they had to move the embarkation port). The seas were very smooth considering a hurricane had come through there just a few days before. The weather the first day and last day were a little chilly (light jacket or sweatshirt did the trick). But, after about 15 hours of sailing, it was down-right balmy. Mid-atlantic waters can be rough at times, but since you're going to Bermuda, you may only have some choppy seas for a day at most. Have a blast!!!! We did. We got engaged on the last night of the cruise :D
