LHR Arrival New Year's Day 2007

I've been exploring the easiest way to get from LHR on 01Jan07 to Soton.

National Express has non-stop coach service to Soton - normally. However, all I am able to pull up on their website is an all too early departure at a little past 7am, New Year's Day. Insofar as my flight doesn't arrive at T3 until 730a, I can't make this departure.

 

Will there be additional departures and it is just too early to pull them up in the system, or shall I have to do the bus (to Woking or Reading) and then the train to Soton?

Public transport can be a little bit dodgy in the UK at holiday periods - I don't mean to upset anyone, that's just my experience.

 

If it were me, I would get a car and driver sorted out.

I agree with Jane, you should expect public transport to be running a "Sunday service", i.e. a much reduced service, if it is running at all.

 

Getting a driver and car seems a good idea but expect to pay extra for a Bank Holiday journey.

 

Not good news I'm afraid.

New Year's day is always difficult for using public transport, there will be very little if any running. You will need to look at other options and book it sooner rather than later.

As a test I put in the dates for both the spring bank holiday and fall bank holiday. There was very little change in service from normal weekdays.

I'm afraid New Year is different to other bank holidays.
