cruisinonmymind Posted June 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2004 We will be sailing in 28days and need some info from recent sailers. We have sailed Carnival 3 times previous and really enjoyed it, a lot:D . But, there are now 2 other couples sailing with us who are first timers. I really want to make sure that they have as great as experience as we've had. Please reassure me that the ship is nice. I hear that the rooms look better than the past. I have never been on the Sensation, only the Fantasy and Escatsy. I like the decor on both. What should I expect this time? We are gamblers. How is the casino? On the Fantasy, we done really well:D :D ! I hope that the slots are loose here too. how are the meals, we have late seating. Since there are 6 of us total, will it just be us at the table or more people? Our bookings are linked so that we are together according to PVP. Also, we figured out our room by our tickets and "gifts and services" route, since we added another cabin to this booking, what are the chances we will remain on the Empress deck (OV gaurantee) or will be downgraded a deck? I know that these are some questions I probably already read on the boards, but I am getting giddy as well as nervous. I just want to make sure everyone else has as great experience as I had in the past.

serene56 Posted June 26, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2004 I sailed on the Sensation for my very first cruise. Its the cruise that led to an addiction where I now have to cruise at least once a year. Casino- my momma won 2500.00 on the first night in the first hour. Hit the slots closest to the entrances. We did late seating on the Sensation and didnt like it. But different strokes for differnt folks. By the time we got done dinner it was 10:30. Time for the show. (so after dinner we just sat for the next hour. By the time we went to bed...our bellies were too full to get fully rested) Not hungry for the midnight buffet either. Make sure you check out the Hot tubs located in the gym area. I went there every night an hour before dinner. No one was ever in there and I had them to myself. The water is very warm. They have pipped in music. The whole thing was very relaxing. I saved all that money that I was gonna use for a massage. I didnt need it any more. Beffy1167 Posted June 26, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2004 We sailed on the Sensation in Feb., and I can't answer all your questions but will address the ones I can. The Sensation is a nice ship..I was a tad disappointed in some things. The last time I sailed Carnival, our cabin attendant took excellent care of us...the same was true this time. But they really seem to have cut back on staff and the stewards are working double the number of cabins and, as a result, the halls are sometimes cluttered with the "stuff" they need (vacuum cleaners, linen carts, etc.). Not a major annoyance--it certainly didn't detract from our enjoyment of the cruise since the service was still outstanding, but was a noticeable change. The ONLY disappointment we had was room size. If you've got a straight ov room, and you're traveling with a husband or partner that you enjoy sleeping with, one of you will be against the wall when they double the beds. Since it was MY side against the wall, it was not a comfortable situation. [Next cruise'll be Royal Caribbean--and we've been assured (by folks experienced with that line) that neither of us will be against the wall.] BTW, neither DH or I sleep well in beds other than our own but, on the Sensation, the beds were very comfortable AND we really enjoyed the down comforters! The ship was spotlessly clean, apart from what I'd call "normal" wear and tear (spots on carpets, etc.). The wait staff in the dining room was excellent, very friendly and efficient. Same is true for wait staff in the lounges. Lido deck wait staff often seemed overwhelmed as there weren't enough of them to keep up with demand but folks seemed to understand and both cruisers and staff remained cheerful--which I really appreciated! We enjoyed the food in all areas--dining room and Lido deck--but didn't attend the midnight buffet since it's well past the time when we're asleep, even shipboard! I suppose it's a matter of expectations but I've never been disappionted with cruise food! Only disappointment is the 2-4 lbs I gain every time we cruise. (Unlike the other extra pounds I carry, I always DO manage to get cruise weight off, but it's hard work!) Since we never even walked into the casino, I'll leave the answers to those questions to someone else! Also can't speak as to whether you'll remain on the Empress deck--but will assure you that we were on Main Deck and were pleased with the location. We were toward the aft of the ship (but not at the VERY back) and appreciated the exercise we got walking to and from elevators, pools, etc. Main deck was very quiet; we rarely even heard others walking through the halls. sls Posted June 26, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 26, 2004 Was on the Sensation in May. All new white comforters in the room that are very nice. Staff was very friendly. They have lots of tables for 6 so I'm sure you'll be together without anyone else. We did early seating. I can't take going to bed on a full stomach. Try to get the dining room with George the Greek. He is so funny. Lots of jokes about his former wives. First time I actually tipped the maitre d that I felt it was worth it. We played slots and did okay, hubby was lucky at roulette. I'm sure you'll have a good time. sls Destiny 12/2004 Sensation 5/2004 Holiday 1/2004 Conquest 11/2003
