Cunard QM2 with a toddler

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We are going on the Queen Mary 2 with an 18 month old toddler. Can you tell me where will she be welcome? We are not planning on leaving her in the nursery for long periods of time but we don't want to take her to places where she will not be welcome.

I am wondering about the dinnig room (for breakfast, lunch and dinner), planetarium, etc.

Also can you share other information about the QM2 and toddlers? Is there a toddler pool (I am guessing she can not go into the main ones)? Do they have any baby food on board? Anything else that comes to mind?

Thank you,

Lorena

Your child will be welcome just about everywhere but the casino and some of the clubs late at night. No toddler pool and no babies in any pool even with swim diapers. There's no problem taking a child in the dining room at any time. While the ship is lovely, it's just too large for my tastes and I was quite disappointed by many aspects of the QM2, such as the service and location of many of the areas of the ship. It's difficult to get to many places, like the aft pool and sundeck area, because the QM2 is very poorly designed. Stick to the main dining room for lunch because the buffet area is the worst I've experienced in all my many cruises. As for baby food, you must send a letter, a real letter and not an email, to guest services asking for any particular baby food items more than 30 days before your cruise.

Hi,

We are leaving this Friday, 9/6 on the QM2 (first cruise) with our 20 month old. Does anyone have any further insight?

Isn't there a splash pool for toddlers? Or is it not baby friendly?

Did you feel confident with the nannies?

THANKS!

Hi,

We just came back. Our daughter (17 months) had the best time. She enjoyed lookig out the windows and seeing the water, dancing everywhere, riding the elevators. Most passengers stopped to say hi to her.

We took her to dinner every night (2nd seating) and everybody was very attentive to her, they even had the high chair prepared every night. I carried some baby food with me and ordered from the kids menu or a regular entree for her.

There is a splash pool near the nursery but babies or toddlers with diapers are not allowed. It was cold outside so we didn't feel like going into the pool anyway. There is an indoors pool, but again, no diapers.

The nursery was fine, I really liked Helen. I felt they were watching the kids very carefully while they were playing. She was only there for a couple of times though. However we left her sleeping one ningth and went to see the show. They have cribs in a separate room and use a baby monitor. But when we got back she was crying hysterical, my theory is that she woke up and they didn't go to her soon enough so she got scared. It took us about 10 minutes to make her stop crying. After that we didn't left her there sleeping anymore.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Have a wonderful time,

Lorena

Lorena,

Thanks so much for the info.

Glad to have clarification on the pool situation. I have a feeling it will be too cold next week as well.

Very happy to hear that you felt safe enough with the nursery to leave you daughter sleeping there. My plan is to visit the nursery as soon as possible so our 20 month old can get adjusted.

Hope we have just as great of a time!

Thanks!!!
