Miss the Boat?!

We decided to book our airfare through Carnival this time instead of doing it on our own. It was easier, and cheaper. Our flight information came in last week and I am worried. We are flying in on the day of and our plane does not get to Miami until 1:00. We have a lay over that morning in another airport. What if we are delayed and we get to the port too late? Is Carnival responsible since they made the flight arrangements? Just wondering.

"We not only arrange convenient flight times to and from all our ports of embarkation, we provide added peace of mind. Our staff monitors flight operations for any delays or interruptions to ensure the coordination of your arrivel to the ship via your inclusive motorcoach transfer service."

Sounds like you're pretty well covered.:)

We are leaving on the 27th of May for our cruise on the Triumph with a couple who also had their airfare booked through Carnival last year. Unfortunately, the flight they were booked on was "oversold" and they were unable to get on the plane. There were no other seats available on any other plane that would have gotten them to Miami in time to catch the ship. So, they missed their entire vacation. Although they did get a credit for the money they spent for the cruise and airfare, they were obviously upset that their vacation didn't happen. They've learned their lesson and taken our advice that you should always fly in the day before a cruise if at all possible.

Don't take any chances!! Go a day early!! Also you give yourself the freedom to be 'bumped' - We ended up with $400 a piece in airfair vouchers because we arrived 4 hours later!!

We made the flights, got from the west coast to the east coast (Ft Lauderdale) but our bags didn't. They missed the connection in Chicago. Fortunately we flew in the day before, so had the next morning to go retrieve them.

When I was retrieving them, there was a young woman who had just flown in from Boston, who was on our ship, and was in the claims office to report her bag missing. She was advised it would arrive at 8pm. Her problem was we sailed at 5pm. Our next stop was three days away......

Yep! Always fly in at least a day in advance. To the OP, I would suggest contacting your TA or Carnival and have them switch your air and fly down a day earlier. Just a suggestion. This board is full of advise! I think the most strongly advised subject...other than not wearing jeans in the dining rooms....is to get to your port destination at least one day in advance. The cost of one nights stay in a hotel will definitely be worth the peace of mind. AND you will have a good night sleep and be ready for a full day of embarkation. The first day of a cruise is one of the most fun. Checking in, getting onboard at last, seeing your cabin for the first time, meeting your tablemates and waitstaff, exploring the ship, the lifeboat drill, the sailaway party, etc.etc.....the last thing I would want is to miss a minute of the fun.

We did the Splendour (Mediterranean) - cruise in Sept. last year ....we made it but our bags didn't go over with us. Instead, they put the bags on a directly flight into Barcelona .... no one knew where our bags were because they do not have the scanner equipment we do here. After 5 hours of sitting and waiting at the airport WE FOUND OUT OUR BAGS WERE THERE THE WHOLE TIME UNATTENDED IN THE NEXT TERMINAL..... WE WERE SO UPSET!!
