nsa2389 Posted May 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2006 My DH is looking for a cruise to take my 16 year old daughter on. She will not be taking any friends . Has anyone ever taken an only child on a cruise and how did it turn out?. I am afraid she will tire of mom and dads' company quickly and will become bored. Any suggestions are welcome. wrp96 Posted May 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 21, 2006 Royal Caribbean Voyager class (especially Mariner or Navigator which have expanded teen areas) or the Freedom class. Tons of activities for all ages, especially teens, but adults too. These are very popular ships with families year round so she should have no problem meeting other people her age. clearbluewater33 Posted May 22, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 22, 2006 i am an only child and have been cruising since i was 6 (21 now) and I have never not met anyone. She will probably go to the kids club the first day and meet people and not go to many organized activities after that but have a blast, your going to have to set mom and dad time with her otherwise you wont see her! We have always gone Celebrity and loved it. We did RCI once and I had a blast however we didnt enjoy the cruise in general as much as we did on Celebrity. nacoochee Posted June 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted June 10, 2006 We are taking our DD (16) on the Carnival Inspiration on Sept 16 2006. She has said it works good to go to the teen meet & greet the 1st day and will hang with us on deck the 1st night to see who is about. I guess the trick is not to be shy, say HI and smile and go the arcade, most of the time she has come up with a group of kids to hang with druing the cruise and has a great time
Arubalisa Posted June 12, 2006 #8 Share Posted June 12, 2006 There are some good thought starters in this article http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9970839/ by Carolyn Spencer Brown, Editor Personally, I always though the Teen Oasis on the HAL ships would be something pretty cool for the kids.
