Need help with booking Spirit to Mexico

I am planning to go on the Spirit to the Mexican Riviera in Feb 2007? How far in advance should I book this cruise? In the past, I have booked about 5-6 months in advance when they have a Carnival sale of some kind. It seems right after I book, prices go down. Since they usually give me some kind of upgrade (to a higher floor). They won't refund me anything because the upgrade. I have expressed I'd rather have the refund or obc. We always book a balcony room and I like the location of the 8A's.

I think we booked in August for our Feb cruise. Booked with a group, so don't know how much of a discount we got. We had a balcony also on Deck 7 and loved it. The weather is great in Feb. I know this doesn't help you, but wanted to say have a great trip! We did the Pride and I would love to do the Spirit.
