FinelyRetired Posted May 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2006 After a great day in Aruba, where did you go for dinner? Back to the Ship? Did you find a terrific waterfront restaurant? Did you just order Room Service? We're docked 11am-11pm and doing the jeeps from 2-6:30pm. So keep that in mind......maybe we'll be too sweaty, casual and tired to stay in town for dinner? How would you all "top off" a great day in Aruba? Thanks in advance, SCinRI-Marty
serene56 Posted May 26, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2006 I am looking for a sunset cruise. I heard sunsets are very impressive in Aruba.
lmmn Posted May 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2006 A nice casual restaurant with a great view would be Iguana Joes. Great views and good margaritas. Check out their website for pictures and more.

Julie of the North Posted May 31, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 31, 2006 We had a sunset dinner right on the beach (toes in the sand) last month at an amazing restaurant in Aruba called the Flying Fishbone. The food was incredible, the service outstanding and the sunset was breathtaking. This place is a bit out of the way (south of the port) and the taxi ride round trip will be about $40. I am so glad we had the experience of dining here....I will never forget this place. :) Their website is www.flyingfishbone.com Check it out! Arubalisa Posted May 31, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 31, 2006 Another nice description of a dinner at the Flying Fishbone can be found in this post http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=6129786&postcount=10 from the thread at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=311684
Debordo Posted June 15, 2006 #7 Share Posted June 15, 2006 We spent a week on Aruba last year. The number of truly excellent restaurants are too numerous to choose just one. But if you only have the one evening, the only restaurant close enough to the pier that is worth your time is Mirandi's. Mirandi's is right on the beach and is build under a large palapa. Tables are placed on a wood plank floor with some tables in the center of the restaurant in sand. Food was exceptional! Or for a truly unique experience either the Simply Fish restaurant at the Mariott on Palm Beach or The Flying Fishbone. Both an easy taxi ride and you'll enjoy having your feet in the sand while you enjoy dinner. Although the Flying Fishbone gets more PR, Simply Fish has a better menu. You can't go wrong at either. Check out when sunset is and book your table in advance for sunset. If you setting on Flying fishbone, try for a water side table. You will have the water lapping on your feet while you eat. Enjoy Aruba. If you are like us, you want to go back for a longer time. Debordo
cruisingirls Posted June 16, 2006 #8 Share Posted June 16, 2006 Madame Janette's if you have time to go...it's not a long cab ride to it...reservations required...Amazing restaurant! I 2nd this!!! We went to Aruba for our honeymoon 4 years ago and discovered Madame Janette's on our final night. Definitely the highlight dinner of our trip. We also enjoyed the steaks at El Gaucho...though the atmosphere is a bit loud. We did a sunset cruise on night that was beautiful! Have a great trip!!! Debordo Posted June 18, 2006 #9 Share Posted June 18, 2006 Hi again, I forgot to mention that reservations are a must for any of the restaurants listed here including El Gaucho!! El Gaucho is a little walk but can also be done from the pier. El Gaucho serves a wonderful steak. I'd go for one of the restaurants though on the beach for a unique evening (and romantic). Have fun! Jill and Jo Posted June 25, 2006 #10 Share Posted June 25, 2006 This is a MUST DO in Aruba!!! You can make reservations on line prior to your cruise. They specialize in Argentinian Beef and it was the best steak that I EVER ate. Don't mess around and order the GAUCHO steak. You won't regret it!!! The dress is casual. It was so amazing that we took pictures of our friends TBone Steak. You won't be disappointed. There is a great cigar/piano bar right across the street to relax and have a drink before dinner that is so cozy!!! The website for on line reservations: http://www.elgaucho-aruba.com/ The prices were VERY reasonable and the portions huge!!! We took a cab for only $5 each way to get there from the dock. Worth EVERY penny!! This will be the icing on the cake ESPECIALLY if you are doing the Jeep tour! You will love it. Photos of El Gaucho:
newmexicoNita Posted June 27, 2006 #11 Share Posted June 27, 2006 La Gaucho may be the best place in Aruba, but as others have said, there are several to choose from; most of the beach front restaurants are pretty much tourist traps. One word of advise; be prepared to pay for what you get: yes, the choices are unbelievable and the food as good as any Caribbean Island but the prices match.....NMNita
