I am a first time cruiser, we are going on 7 day cruise on June 24, Carnival Triumph. I have been reading a-lot of the info on CC. but now I have more questions, if anyone can help thank you in advance:D Do we need to bring our own lanyards? Do children get cards for charging stuff? How early should we get to the pier? Our ship departs at 4:00 PM. How soon should I be expecting boarding paper work, we are leaving a week before to explore Miami. We are traveling with two other familes a total of 12

(6 children and 6 adults) will we get a big table that seats all of us during dinner ? Sorry if these question seem dum, but I never realized so much planning went into a cruise, until I found CC? Now I am addicted and the other two families are looking to me for answers?

:D Do we need to bring our own lanyards?

might be a good idea for the kids --- i always put mine in my pocket

Do children get cards for charging stuff?

if you want them to have one you could get it at the front desk --i would be leary of giving a charge card to a youngster

How early should we get to the pier?

you most likely could board around noon

How soon should I be expecting boarding paper work,

could be 2 wks or so before ---check with your ta

There are a few places you can get free Lanyards, the casino being one of them. You can have the kid's cards 'deactivated' or depending on the sleeping arrangements, have one of the rooms have the S&S card tied to a cash depsosit instead of a credit card. As far as getting on the ship, I would eithor go early or late. If you get there later than about 12:30 or so, the lines will get miserable, however if you wait till 3 or so you should be able to walk right up to the check in desk. As far as check in time, could be anywhere from 10 min to 2 hrs, depends if you get there during 'peak time' or not.

My kids (8 & 9) loved having their own "charge cards!" They were allowed to charge one fruity drink and one soda per day. They felt so grown up to sign the charge slip!

We put their cards on lanyards that we had brought from home because the ones that the casino gives out are on a spring-cord and are cheap & annoying to use.

That being said, my youngest did lose his card one night! We went to the pursers desk to report it missing and get another one and they had his lost one there! Someone had just found it and turned it in.

One addition to the previous responses, double check that you TA has linked all of your reservations. If not, you won't be at the same table or potentially, even the same sitting.
