Outta shape fun in Belize in steamy August?

Hello -- hubby and I are what you'd call outta shape, and he has a condition which can't take the heat. But we have two athletic teens -- 16 and 12 -- and are going in August to Belize on the Carnival Miracle. Want fun for the kids, but not agony for us.

Was intrigued by the prospect of cave tubing -- cool water -- but when we heard you had to trek for 45 minutes through a hot rain forest, that was OUT! We would never make it. Forget the zip line either!

What else would you recommend for excursions? We have gone many times with independents, NOT through the cruise line, so we're very open to that.

What do you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the out of shape (and overweight) category too, but DH really wants to go cave tubing. I'm nervous about it.... what if I can't handle the jungle trek, what if I don't fit in the raft, what if, what if,....

Can any other older, heavier, less than in shape cruisers help us decide?

Thanks,

We were on the Miracle April 2005. By the way loved this Ship. Just got off Crown Princess and still loved the Miracle more...food, service and the beauty of the ship outstanding!!!! Belize was sweltering in April and can't even imagine August! We didn't do Cave Tubing we did the Ruins and River Wallace tour! It was way too hot also quite overweight and outta of shape!!! I still enjoy activities just can't do the more strenuous one's. I would show you the pictures of me on this tour but I looked so horrible I deleted them...I was covered in sweat and looked miserable!!!lol. I wouldn't do the cave tubing in august with a 45 minute walk if they were paying me!!! I would do some kind of water excursion, got to keep it cool!!! Any kind of snorkeling, beach or the Sting Ray excursion looked really cool.

how about snorkeling or swimming with the dolphens? can the kids do a tour on their own with carnival ( i dont know about the rules on that ) and you and hubby take the belize city and zoo tour? there is also horseback riding . i am considering doing the snorkeling instead of seeing the ruins. i am overweight and in my late 50's but i can swim and it looks like a great thing to do. i will be there in april and i hope the humidity wont be so bad. i still have to decide what i want to do also. i hope i have helped you.

The walk through the jungle for cave tubing is really flat and you can stop and rest if you need to. Our teens loved the tubing and I'm sure you all would. P.S. I'm not skinny either and had no trouble zip lining or tubing.
